Q&A: Grandson,10,Steals my meds for his mom?
Question by susan o: Grandson,10,Steals my meds for his mom?
I have a script for Xanax. I found an empty bottle underneath his toys today. I know he is giving them to my daughter-she’s an addict-and/or selling them. How should I approach him and what should his punishment, if any, be?? HELP!!!!!We have custody of him; her sister turned out Great!! He adores her and told me, ‘I hope you 2 die in your sleep for gossiping about mom.” It is hard not to talk about a 42 yr old unemployed addict who prostitutes herself.
I keep 99% of my meds in a locked safe.
I think it’s sad I have to do that when he is in gifted classes but what do I know? I am 64 and times were different then. On occasion, out of trust, I had SOME in a nightstand drawer. He took them which I find shocking and disappointing. I thought a Whole lot more of him than this. I never suspected my favorite grandchild would steal my meds. He has been seeing her on fridays lately; that’s about it. She takes him to ball games.
I am sorry all of you think I should not trust a ten year old kid and have to resort to watching each bottle. I am from another era than you. I’m new at this and will be much more careful about hiding medicine from this child. His aunt, 38, says he’ll be selling drugs soon; she kept him for a year. Maybe she was right. He does lie almost daily and he’ll lie about this too.

well first of all keep your mouth shut about her in front of him. Second…buy a lock box for all your prescriptions to go into and keep the key on your key ring and in your posession at all times. Just tell him that he is not helping her by giving her drugs that he is only making her problem worse.
