I am making a civil war film for school. Can anybody give a good free program and a description on what tools to use to make the gunshot. The finished project will be put together in movie maker. I will give 5 stars to the best answer

Go into Windows Movie Maker and take a snapshot of the gunshot scene and go into a photo editing program like gimp or paint. Make the area around the gun and make it whiter and make the whole photo brighter. Once youve done that bring the photo back into windows movie maker and place it where you originally took the snapshot from. Time the photo for a split second around 0.1 seconds.
