I apologize for the length here but it’s a long story…

I have this female friend who is a Taurus. We’ve been friends for about 6 years now. It’s been a really off/on relationship due to her chronic lying which I can’t stand. She tells these outlandish stories that you just know are nothing but lies. For example, we went to see that movie “Water for Elephants” with Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. During the movie, she leaned over and told me that her dad used to be the main elephant trainer for the Ringling Brothers Circus (the movie features an elephant/trainers) which I know is a lie…she lies even though she knows that I know she’s a liar and it drives me crazy. She also starts a ton of drama with people and then whines about it. I’m not sure how much longer I can deal with her behavior. I don’t really want to lose her friendship because she does have a good heart but I can’t handle the drama and lies…I’m a low-key person and I don’t like to make waves with people..I just like harmony in my friendships/relationships but this is just crazy..I don’t kow what to do. Why does she do that? Is lying a typical Taurus trait?

first point its NOT a typical taurian trait. I am a Taurus and so a some of my closest mates who are all amazing people (but they are all very stubborn which IS a taurian trait). Lying is not a trait determined by you star sign its determined by how you grow up and the kinda person you are.
The reason your friend might be lying is that she feel inadequate around people. She might feel she has to make up stuff to fit in or she is worried that without it people wont talk to her.
Why don’t you talk to her and ask her why she is lying?
