Q&A: How do I contact a Producer or a Movie Production House with a movie-making idea?
Question by somak_halder: How do I contact a Producer or a Movie Production House with a movie-making idea?
Hi, I want to contact some Producer or a Production House (like Paramount, Universal, Disney etc.) with a couple of movie-making plans. It’s not that I will provide them the script or something like that. I just have some ideas on which some good movies can be made. Now those ideas are based on novels, short stories, graphic novels, old tv series etc. I just want to suggest them on the storyline (on which the movie will be made, of course after some editing) and some suggestions on the making of the movie (like the casting, which part to be changed etc). Of course there will be a lot of changes, but I need a start.
I don’t want money or anything. Just doing this for my love of movies and movie industry. But seems like getting in touch with the producers (or somebody of similar position) is a real tough job.
Any suggestions from anybody?? Thanks a lot in Advance!!
Well so where do I find agents? Does it cost money? And regarding the logic you mentioned about books might not be true always. Maybe the have overlooked it. Anyways for me novels are just one tpe, I have ideas on short stories, graphic novels, old TV series etc.
Thanks all. But Dirk as I mentioned I am not going to write the screenplay, I want to act more of an advisor/consultant to the producers regarding the story and some other details on the movie. Will never ask for any money for this. And Markwillstar , I liked your answer. Any suggestion on where I find the agents? And what type of agents they will be; literary, casting, I know there are various kinds of agents in Hollywood. And people this is a serious inquiry, please refrain from posting silly answers. Thank you!!

well for one thing get a agent, then present him with the ideas
good luck trying to talk to a producer unless you know him directly.
as for novels, most authors get aproached by hollywood if they find the book interesting, about the time the book gets published. So chances are if the book your interested in, hasnt become a movie yet, thats because no one wants it or the writer didnt want to
