Q&A: Is it normal to want to block out embarrassing memories if they keep replaying in your head?
Question by Dandy Danduh: Is it normal to want to block out embarrassing memories if they keep replaying in your head?
I have this weird thing, like whenever something embarrassing happens, my mind seems to play it like a movie. And it can be the same incident over and over in a loop. And it happens daily. So, I try to block out the memory so it will stop playing.
Is this normal? Or, like, does anyone else do it?
Did it make any sense at all? :*]

Yes it’s normal, I hope so anyway.
I have the same thing happen to me every day, sometimes I remember things from a couple of years ago, and just keep playing them over and over again. And they actually effect me just as bad as they did then, sometimes even worse. I’m talking about turning bright red and shaking your head thinking about how stupid that was. I then think of ways I could have avoided it too, I digress.
I do think it’s normal, and if you want to make it stop just attempt at stopping embarrassing situations ahead of time. However if you start thinking about them just do something they you will eventually forget them for a little while.
