Q&A: Screenwriting opportunity too good to be true?
Question by gotf: Screenwriting opportunity too good to be true?
A while ago I published my screenplay through this website called storymash.com This one guy commented on my story and said he really liked it and in his last comment he gave me his email and said email me if you want to collaborate with me. I emailed him asking what he meant. He said he could make my story into a movie. He gave me his name. He said he would help me sell the script. But he had to first revise it to make the format correct. So he would get a percentage of the money. He said that the minimum amount that usually is paid is about 65,000. Do you think this is legit?

Nope, it’s not legit. Not only that, but it’s not even CLOSE to being good, so it certainly can’t be too good to be true.
Minimums are usually $ 40-$ 60K, and can go much higher.
You can do your own formatting and not have to give away (or worse, get charged by someone) any part of your story.
