so, for christmas I got VMS platinum. since then, I made one video (simple, just a slideshow of pictures with music and transitions), and that process went well.
every year I make a biig Christmas video, filled with videos that I take with my video camera, a sony handy cam. on regular VMS (not platinum) which I had before, I made big videos with this video camera with no problem.
for the first 2/3 ish of the video making process (in case this helps, the video is about 10 mins long so far) everything went smoothly other than a couple irregular program crashes. then, in the preview screen in the top right corner, all i saw was red. when i play the video, i can hear the audio fine but the preview is red. so, i force-quit the program and when i come back in it lets me edit for a little while until the same thing happened. this happened about ten times. then, as soon as i entered the program, it would let me edit for a very short amount of time, maybe a minute, before the red screen appears. then i have to force quit. that happened about 6 or 7 times. now, for maybe the 5th time, as soon as i enter the program the preview screen is red.
PLEASE, PLEASE HELP! I have no idea what to do and this software is brand-new! If anybody has an inkling or idea as to what might help or if this has happened to them please share. any help is much appreciated. thank you so much!

Is there some reason why you can’t contact Sony’s technical support? For new software that’s already giving you problems, the first place you need to go is the software vendor’s technical support group.
