Question by darth_decoy: Why is my dvd drive so loud sometimes?
Ive noticed that my dell inspiron E1505’s dvd burner makes a lot of noise when it plays certain disks but not others. For instance when I try to play Halo on pc it sounds like a weed eater but when I try to play a burnt movie (on dvd) it just has a low hum, any ideas and/or solutions to my problem? I ask here because i don’t wanna feel like slapping dells tech support with my English 101 book because they outsourced their tech support to India and I cant understand WTF they are saying because of the accent and the lack of proper subject verb agreement. Thanks!

I’ve noticed this problem as well. It seems to happen more on discs that have labels. The weight shift must be an issue when the disc spins, causing more noise. On a burned disc, you probably don’t have any labels that would cause more wobble and vibration.
