Simple Video Editing Software?

Question by Mastermind: Simple Video Editing Software?
I’m looking for a simple video editing software to get my girlfriend for her birthday. Right now she uses Windows Movie Maker but wants something a little more advanced. All she really uses it for is to make “music videos” by stringing together several short clips and pictures from her digital camera and playing music over top of them. She just wants something that has more transition effects between clips. She’s also given me as an example, the ability to play video in reverse. I’m hesitant to steer her towards something like Adobe Premiere because of the steep learning curve (not to mention that it would be overkill for what she wants). Thanks in advance for any help!

i know you’ve said not premiere, but if you get the elements version it’s very simple to use, yet still produces good results.
