Question by Erica: So I like to write plays and possibly make movies…now what?
I am a minority college student that’s hugely interested in play-writing and possibly film making. Are there any institutions or associations that would be beneficial to me? Any competitions that I could possibly submit information to? [Also, know that I am just an amateur that finds passion in this field.] I am asking the same question in the Theater Dept. on my college campus, however I am asking it here to get a wider range of answers.

Major in film-making. This field is NOT easy. A college? Which college, I suggest attending a film school(film making, film editing, film directing). Most colleges won’t offer the same training as a film school would. You have to be serious though… if trail off from this interest, you can’t just go back to your day job. It is expensive and a hard skill to build. It’s going to cost you a lot if you want to go somewhere with your skill.

Cinematography Los Angeles Film School’
Brooks Institute
Brown
Boston UC
Ex’Pression San Fransisco.

Those are the best school I know of.
I may be 15 but I sure as hell know a lot about the business.
