I’m a junior in highschool right now. I didn’t do too well in my first 2 years. I got (and thse GPA’s are unweighted, I believe) a 3.2 my first year and a 3.4 my second. I’m not stupid, I just slacked off all the time. I’m working hard right now to earn straight A’s and I have 3 AP classes, but are my first 2 years dooming for me?

And here is the main thing: I really want to study film production in college. Since I was a small child, I’ve always been very creative. I love to write my own stories, plays, and poems, I have a lot of drawing skill and love to do that as well, but last year when I had to shoot a video for a class, I found that I have a passion for creating films. I already loved watching films (ESPECIALLY the classics and silent film) and analyzing them, like I love them way more than your average movie viewer. I have so many ideas and am just aching to get into film school. The thing is, although right now I’m trying to learn about techniques and am taking film courses next year during the summer and at school, and shooting films when I have time, I’ve had very little experience. I heard the good film schools only take kids who are experienced already in making movies. If I show a lot of potential and express how passionate I am, will schools still take me? I know I don’t suck at film, and I do have potential.

You are fine. There is nothing to be ashamed of in a 3.2 or 3.4. Most people do not have experience in film before film school. It’s good that you play around with it already, you should put together a portfolio if you can– even just shorts to practice different concepts. That will put you way ahead of the game. 😛
