Video Editing Freeware?

I have specific needs for this software, I am making a music video for a class of mine, all it will have are pictures and text, so i need good effects for them, please please please don’t say movie maker, i have all the latest versions, but the effects aren’t working out, I need something that will hopefully make it look cool, but it isn’t an upbeat video.

I found a video online that i want mine to look like, but i cannot figure out what software they used, i already tried to message him to ask, maybe you can reconize it?

I had to watch this video in one of my classes, it doesn’t mean i am or am not against the death penalty lol
