I recently finished a movie I have been working on for the past 2 years. I was wondering if anyone knows what are the next steps I need to take to make it successful?

Have you edited and completed post production?
If so if you had prearranged financial backing you have to distribute as per the agreements.
If you don’t have financial agreements and you have paid for all rights with sound, etc, whirl it off to film festivals. This is expensive, but well worth it if you have a good film. That is the next stage in independent films. Often finding distributors comes after the film fest stage for most beginning film makers.
