What is it like to be a telemarketer?

I’m attempting to write my first screenplay, in which the main character is a telemarketer. Could anyone give me any info on what it’s actually like to be one? What’s involved in the job? How much time do you spend talking to co-workers? What are the hours like? How often do you get new scripts? Do you generally get your own cubicle? How much contact do you have with your boss? How many people do you call that are horribly mean? How many times do you actually sell anything?

Any illumination on the subject would be welcome.
Also, ideas for things my character could be selling would be great.
