What is the best video editing software for a high school student?

Question by Riley: What is the best video editing software for a high school student?
I’ve got a really nice Sony HD camera and a good Vaio laptop with 4 gigs of ram and a nice processor, but I’m sick of making my films on windows movie maker and other free software. What would be good software to buy that a high schooled can make within a few weeks doing odd jobs?

imovie is great for macs and for windows try song vegas 7.0 or sony vegas. It’s called something like that just goodle it. I use imovie cause I have a mac and it’s good. You just can’t do fast or slow mo, atkeat not on my old version…
