I like the new twist on the firebenders.
The fire benders need a fire source to bend. This makes them technically the weakest element, but they use their technology to overcompensate for this.
Here is how I think this IMPROVES the plot .
Sozan’s comet is what gives them the power to bend freely; which is a better explanation for how the war started.
This will also make for a better climax.
