I have always wanted to be a commercial advertiser and I wanted to work specificly with movie editing and or local commercials. I just want to really make movie trailers and to know what degree would best get me there.

A degree in film, or electronic media, is a good starting point.
Be aware that you aren’t going to start off your career making movie trailers. A very small number of people specialize in this. And the people who work for the movie companies are pretty well at the top of the industry
Once you have a 4-year degree, best place to begin is a small production company. There, you will likely work on TV commercials, and corporate video projects. Learn all you can. Look at what the “big guys” do and try to be as good as they are. Notice their visual techniques and try to improve on them.
Enter your work in awards competitions, such as the Telly Awards, not just for the recognition, but to see just how you stack up on a national basis.
If you have the talent, you will move up. But it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get there.
