What sort of camcorder filters can I use to make a professional-style (looking) film?
Question by j.y222: What sort of camcorder filters can I use to make a professional-style (looking) film?
I have a Canon HV10 High Definition Camcorder (37mm).
I also have Pinnacle Studios 11 Ultimate.
Still- no matter how you shoot a movie- it always ends up looking like a home-movie with acting instead of a true movie.
I heard that filters are used in professional filmmaking (I’m a student filmaker) and I’ve been to multiple sites about getting filters- but none seem to make a lot of sense. If you guys could recommend some filters for me that will make my movie look like a big-budget studio film (as well as prices) it would be greatly appreciated!

The problem is that HD is BETTER than film. One of the things you can do is to get soft focus filter. It take the harsh sharpness of the video out.
But that’s not all. You have to post process the images to look like film

And you have to use lighting techniques of FILM makers. In general any thing that gives away clues to “low budget” says video.

In his DVD “Once upon a time in Mexico” he show how he made the whole movie using HD camera. I could not tell it was shot on HD until he said that on the DVD.
