I was wondered how did the producers and special effects personnel added some of these effects for the television series: Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie before the use of computer technology we have now in many recent movies and tv shows. For instance, I want to know how did the producers used tricks to make objects appear and disappeared on the Bewitched tv series before modern technology Hollywood used today.

They simply stopped the camera, removed he item, and then restarted the camera. When those series were in production special effects were in it’s infancy and there was very little being done on Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie that had not been done in cinema for 75 years. Objects hanging from strings and moving across the room and so forth.

When Star Trek began in that same era heavy special effects work made it the most expensive television productions in it’s day. I’ve read that the original series is getting a remake with the special effects redone with modern methods. Should be interesting.
