In the end it’s all about editing and music. Putting the most interesting, suspenseful scenes in the trailer, and adding an appropriate music (which often isn’t even present on the film itself). The song “Requiem for a Dream” is quite popular in action film trailers, for example mostly obscure film Gene Generation, the renowned Lord of The Rings, and some others all used this song.
