Question by floridasmiles74: While shopping at Office Max, I noticed several programs stating they can rip DVD’s?
These programs state they can rip any of your DVD’s to make back up copies and in one of the pictures it shows a ripped Shrek and another movie title that is popular. My question is this, I thought it was illegal for stores to sell those programs now-a-days? I hesitated on the purchase until I could read more about it, I am interested in purchasing a program to make back up copies so my purchased DVD’s don’t get scratched. Do these programs really work? I have some movies I watch frequently and they develop small scratches after a while. In a nutshell… would I be wasting my money? I do have a DVD burner in my pc but no software to rip movies.

Why buy when everything you need is free on the internet. DVD Shrink will work on most DVD’s. For more difficult DVD’s, use DVD Decrypter then DVD Shrink. For even more difficult DVD’s, use RipIt4Me, FixVTS, DVD Decrypter, and DVD Shrink. Most movies can be ripped and compressed within 30 minutes. Burn back onto a DVD in less then 10 minutes.
