Why should I go into the movie editing biz?

Question by Missa: Why should I go into the movie editing biz?
Hey there!
I’m a junior in high school and am seriously considering becoming a movie editor. I love messing around with things on the computer and get really into school video and powerpoint projects at school, trying to make ’em perfecto and flowing.
I know it’d be a lot of frustrating work, but I think I’m up for it.
So. I guess my question is what are the drawbacks/good things about becoming a movie editor?

The number of jobs available vs. the number of qualified people seeking those jobs can be a big drawback. Look into it to be sure. If you are good at it you can beat the competition and get one of the available jobs. You might be doing some other type of work until you manage to get the job you want but don’t let that discourage you. Just be prepared to deal with it along the way.
