Question by angelgrl5200: why wont my computer recognize my movie?
i bought a dvd(suburban girl) and my dvd player broke so i wanted to play it on my computer but when i put it in it doesnt recognize anything. it makes a sound then just stops, no messages nothing. but if i put a music cd or burnt cd in it will play it. do i need some kind of software? if i do whats the best free one?
i have windows media player and quick time. will those work? how do i know if my cd thingy can play dvds?

it’s most likely you will need a “codec” to play it. which can be obtained easily if you want…
